Surf School introduction
Surf school candidates gather at Island Vibe backpackers Hostel reservation office just before 9 am daily, where the surf instructor will meet you. Please note that it is advised that people, who would like to join the group, should sign up for the surf lessons the day prior. The surf instructor will give you a short run down on what will be happening and then get everyone into wetsuits. Each student will get a surf board, ideally suited for surf school conditions. The spot where the surf lessons will be given is known as Kitchen windows, just a short walk from the hostel.
Surf lesson - Part 1
Once on the beach, the instructor will share with you the basic safety precautions that each person should be well aware of. The new surfers will go through a warm-up session together with the fundamentals of paddling out before anyone gets wet. Once in the water all surfers are spaced out evenly, making sure free floating surf boards doesn’t injure anyone. After catching & paddling a couple of waves, students return to the golden sand of Jeffreys main beach.
Surf lesson – Part 2
The following part of the surf lesson will get surfers standing or at least balancing on the surfboards, but first the technique are explained and shown by the instructor. A great emphasis is placed on the fun factor during the lessons making sure that everyone relax and have fun. Back in the water, the students get expert advice from the experienced instructor to ensure at least a couple of waves get surfed on the first surf lesson.

After just two hours in the salt water, students will surf Jeffreys, and back at the hostel, everyone who attended the surf school will be sharing this awesome experience. Surfing alone is a memorable experience, but learning to do it in the world famous waves of J-Bay, even better. Jeffreys Bay surf school can and will make your surfing dreams come true.
